Sharon Curl
President - North America

Sharon Curl brings over 38 years of experience in international education and English language training. A graduate of the University of British Columbia, Sharon is a highly respected leader in the Canadian EFL (English as a Foreign Language) and Career College sectors and currently oversees Oxford International’s North American operations as President – North America.
Sharon, along with her business partner Makiko Yonenaga (later Executive Advisor for Oxford International North America), co-founded Vancouver Maple Leaf Language College Inc. (VMLLC) in 1990. Under their leadership, VMLLC became a recognized institution in the field before being acquired by Oxford International in 2013.
Throughout her career, Sharon has played a pivotal role in shaping Canada’s private language education landscape. She was the first President of the Canadian Association of Private Language Schools (CAPLS), chaired the steering committee that led to the formation of Languages Canada, and served as its President from 2013 to 2017. She currently sits on the association’s Executive Committee as Immediate Past President.
