Oxford International Digital Institute and Abertay University launch transnational education partnership
Oxford International Digital Institute (OIDI) and Abertay University have announced today a new strategic partnership designed to support sustainable international growth and widen access to UK higher education through flexible, transnational delivery models.
The collaboration will see Abertay-accredited programmes delivered both online and in-country through OIDI’s multinational Global Hub network, enabling students to begin their studies locally before progressing to degree and masters-level study in Dundee.
The partnership supports the UK Government’s International Education Strategy (IES), including its renewed focus on transnational education (TNE) as a key driver of sustainable global engagement, by creating accessible, high-quality routes for international students that align with evolving mobility patterns.
Students can currently study for Abertay degrees in 12 overseas countries with 12 partners. The partnership with OIDI will combine delivery via OIDI’s online platform with in-country provision through its Global Hub network, which boasts 13 Hubs across eight countries, expanding the university’s global reach exponentially, while maintaining programme consistency and academic standards.
The collaboration will offer programmes in business and computer science, providing students with progression opportunities into a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Abertay University.
By enabling students to complete the early stages of their studies in their home country, the model supports greater affordability, flexibility and accessibility, while strengthening academic preparedness and student outcomes. It also allows students to build an early connection with Abertay University, supporting a smoother transition to on-campus study in the UK.
For Abertay University, the collaboration establishes a predictable and sustainable international recruitment pipeline and a scalable framework for future growth across multiple international markets.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to innovation, inclusion and student success. It aligns with Abertay University’s strategic focus on sustainable global growth, strategic partnerships and inclusive access, while leveraging OIDI’s expertise in delivering scalable, high-quality international higher education solutions.
Gary Palmer, Managing Director, Oxford International Digital Institute, said:
“This partnership with Abertay University represents a forward-thinking approach to transnational education. One that expands access while maintaining academic quality and strong student outcomes. By combining flexible digital delivery with local support through our Global Hubs, we are creating more inclusive and accessible pathways for students worldwide, while supporting Abertay University’s global ambitions.”
Claire MacEachen, Vice-Principal (Global Engagement), Abertay University, said:
“We are delighted to partner with Oxford International Digital Institute on this innovative initiative. This collaboration enables us to extend our global reach in a sustainable way, welcoming talented students from diverse international communities and supporting them from the very start of their academic journey through to success on campus in Dundee.”
Accredited programmes will be initially available via OIDI’s online platform and Global Hub in Abuja, Nigeria, with further locations expected to follow rapidly.
