Oxford International reappoints Professor Julie Smith (Baroness Smith of Newnham) to the Board of Governors for Academic Partnerships and Higher Education
Oxford International is delighted to announce the reappointment of Professor Julie Smith (Baroness Smith of Newnham) as Non-Executive Director to our Board of Governors for our Academic Partnerships and Higher Education division. Julie brings extensive senior academic and policy experience to the Board of Governors, advising on academic integrity, excellence and international collaboration.
Her research and governance experience extend across Europe through her past and present involvement with the Centre of European Legal Studies and the Centre for Geopolitics (Cambridge), and advisory boards in Berlin and Brussels. Julie’s insight into higher education quality, policy and strategy will continue to strengthen Oxford International’s academic partnerships worldwide.
Alongside her academic career, Julie is an expert in European politics and was Head of the European Programme at Chatham House (the Royal Institute of International Affairs) from 1999 to 2003. She is Liberal Democrat Life Peer and active member of the House of Lords, where she contributes to national and international policy discussions on education, defence and global relations.
